COME YE MORMONS, FALL IN LINE - LDS Hymn Parody #112

Once again, I'm sure I sound like a broken record - but that doesn't stop me from reiterating my view over and over again.  Really, the fact that there is so more information out there that refutes what the Mormon Church holds out to be true and yet so many people are still adhering to its doctrines (apparently overlooking all the facts and evidence) that I feel none of it can be said too much.

And so I go on, posting blogs, writing LDS hymn parodies, and parodying various songs, all with the hope that some of it strikes a chord with those who are either fully entrenched in Mormonism or investigating the Mormon Church.

So here is my latest attempt at unveiling the truth about Mormonism, in the form of another LDS Hymn Parody - my 112th.  This one is about the Mormon Church wanting everyone to simply fall in line and not question anything.  Of course, the danger of falling in line, without question, is following blindly, sometimes into dangerous territory (or right off the proverbial cliff).

COME YE MORMONS, FALL IN LINE

Come ye Mormons, fall in line,
Just accept what we define.
Do not question what is said,
We will think for you instead.
Simply follow what we say,
Don’t let facts get in your way.
All we teach is good and true,
Just believe the Mormon view.

Oh, how simple it will be
When you follow mindlessly.
Research on the internet
Not allowed, don’t you forget.
Those who talk of evidence
Saying that it makes no sense,
Speak of facts and say we lie,
But their claims we do decry.

Anti-Mormon, all of it,
Saying we are counterfeit.
Vilify our history,
Bringing up polygamy.
Calling Joseph Smith a con,
As they ramble on and on.
They condemn our prophet dear,
Don’t believe a word you hear.

Stay in line and argue not,
In their web, do not get caught.
Just have faith and go along,
We will never steer you wrong.
Mormonism is the way,
Read your scriptures, always pray.
Guard against those who attack,
We will always have your back.

WHERE IS TRUTH IN MORMONISM? - LDS Hymn Parody #96

Here's my latest LDS Hymn Parody (#96), which asks the question, "Where is Truth in Mormonism?" Of course, it's very clear from reading my blog that my answer to that question is NOWHERE. As far as I'm concerned, there is not an ounce of truth in Mormonism - not an iota, grain, particle, scrap or smidgeon. In my opinion, Joseph Smith just made up the whole thing. No matter how a person tries to rationalize it all out, say that "sometimes we have to accept things on faith," I just don't buy it. Like I've said before, having faith is all well and good, but when the facts and evidence are against something being true, then it's not faith anymore but rather denial.
Very simply, I am not able to do the mental gymnastics it would take to arrive at the conclusion that's it true. No, after all that I have discovered about Mormonism, its doctrine and extremely sordid history, I cannot come to any other conclusion than that Mormonism is a total fraud.

WHERE IS TRUTH IN MORMONISM?
Sung to the tune of Truth Reflects upon Our Senses ‑ #273

1. Where is truth in Mormonism?
Not an ounce is to be found.
You can search from top to bottom,
Find yourself on shaky ground.
Joseph Smith was not a prophet,
Just a con man, through and through.
Not an element of merit,
So apparent it’s not true.

(Chorus)
Mormonism, false religion,
Duping people, right and left,
With its fabricated doctrine,
Of the truth, it is bereft.

2. When I studied Mormonism,
An objective point of view,
Using common sense and wisdom,
Every issue I’d review,
Before long, I saw it clearly,
And I knew it wasn’t true.
But although it wasn’t easy,
As a Mormon, I was through.

(Chorus)
Mormonism, false religion,
Duping people, right and left,
With its fabricated doctrine,
Of the truth, it is bereft.

3. So I hope that all the Mormons
Will look closely at their church.
Study all the church’s doctrines,
Do some reading and research.
Look at independent writings,
Not the ones the church holds out,
And review all of their findings
To remove remaining doubt.

(Chorus)
Only then with eyes wide open
An informed decision make.
Then perhaps they’ll see deception,
And to all the lies awake.

I KNOW THAT IT'S FILLED WITH DECEPTION - LDS Hymn Parody #76

Here's another LDS Hymn Parody... #76.  Writing a parody of "We Thank Thee, O God, for a Prophet" has been on my "to do" list for quite a while now.  Naturally, since I was born and raised Mormon, I remember singing it innumerable times over the years.  In fact, I even remember singing it during general conference in the Conference Center when it was still fairly new.  Of course, it has been sung at most general conferences since it was published in 1863 - and has been sung by the Mormon Tabernacle Choir many, many times (and is included on several of their albums, including an album entitled "Praise to the Man," which includes many hymns honoring "the Prophet" Joseph Smith).

Since I no longer believe that the Mormon Church is led by a living Prophet (just as I don't believe that Joseph Smith was a Prophet of God or "the Prophet of the Restoration" as Mormons refer to him), it gave me great satisfaction to write this new version.  As this hymn parody says, I KNOW THAT IT'S FILLED WITH DECEPTION, and I'm so thankful for that knowledge.  When I was questioning and as the conflicts I felt inside began to diminish, I began to feel a peace, joy and tranquility that permeated my life and finally made me happy.  After years of struggling, trying to "just believe" and accept it all with faith, I finally came to the conclusion that I was living in denial - that I was clinging to religion that was built on a stack of lies that made no sense.  It was such a relief to finally reach that point.  And so I bid Mormonism adieu - and I have never regretted that decision.  As the last line of this hymn parody says, "I could not continue to follow religion that works to deceive."

I KNOW THAT IT’S FILLED WITH DECEPTION
I know that it’s filled with deception,
So clear from the research I’ve done.
Examining all of the doctrine,
I know that of truth there is none.
In going through its sordid history,
The facts that they try to disguise,
I fully reject Mormonism
Because it is nothing but lies.
I know Joseph Smith was a shyster,
Who made up an enormous fraud
By claiming that he was a Prophet,
And saying that he had seen God.
By researching, it is apparent
That none of what he said was true,
And what others say in the present
Are lies they continue to spew.
I'm thankful that I know the truth now,
Tranquility fills me inside.
Resolved are the conflicts that plagued me,
A joyousness I cannot hide.
And though I am labelled apostate
By Mormons who blindly believe,
I could not continue to follow
Religion that works to deceive.

WHEN I WAS QUESTIONING - LDS Hymn Parody #74

Looking back on the days when I was questioning whether what the Mormon Church teaches is true, I remember many moments when my gut feelings were that it is not.  But I continued to struggle with my conflicted feelings, wondering if I was misunderstanding the history and doctrine.  After all, I had been conditioned my entire life to just go along.  So in essence, my feelings of possible inadequacy were placed inside my psyche by Mormonism over the years.  They wanted me to think that it was all me.  They wanted me to think that I simply didn't have enough faith or wasn't "righteous enough" to fully comprehend the meaning behind it all.  Of course, that's how the Mormon Church traps people.  They work hard to make people think that if they try harder, pray more, read their scriptures more, attend church more, etc., etc., ad nauseum, then they will understand it all and it will all make sense.

But alas, that didn't work for me.  I continued to feel conflicted until I began to research it independently, and after a while, I realized that it is actually a fraud.  It wasn't me or my lack of faith that created the questioning inside me - it was the sordid history, doctrine and tenets of the Mormon Church.  The Mormons choose to believe that Joseph Smith is a prophet of God in spite of the facts and evidence against that assertion.  They choose to believe that Joseph Smith "restored the everlasting gospel to the earth" although the facts and evidence demonstrate otherwise.  To me, when the facts and evidence are against something that a person continues to insist is true, they are not demonstrating faith, but rather denial.  And as far as I'm concerned, TBMs  (true believing Mormons) are steeped in denial, big time.

Realizing that I had been lied to my entire life was a very painful revelation, but it is one for which I am very grateful - and I am very thankful that I will not be spending the rest of my entire life devoted to a religion that is obviously false.

My latest LDS hymn parody is set to the music for "Where Can I Turn for Peace?"  This used to be one of my favorite LDS hymns.  As I wrote this hymn parody, I kept thinking about the inner peace I found when I turned away from Mormonism.  No longer am I questioning.  My conflicted feelings have been replaced with a firm belief that Joseph Smith made the whole thing up - and others have spent many years perpetuating his lies for their own purposes.  I just wish TBMs would look at their religion with open minds, researching and examining its history and doctrine on their own, independent from the choke-hold that the Mormon Church imposes on its members.  Then, just maybe, they would come to the same conclusion as I did.

So here is my 74th Hymn Parody...

WHEN I WAS QUESTIONING
Sung to the tune of Where Can I Turn for Peace? #129
When I was questioning, looking for answers
To all the queries racing through my mind.
When with a wounded heart, seeing the errors,
I finally recognized, no truth I’d find.
The Mormon Church is filled with such deception,
When I examined it, I saw the lies.
Through sordid history to its false doctrine,
It is so clear to me, there’s no disguise.
I know that Joseph Smith was not a Prophet,
He simply made it up, that was his scheme.
He was a charlatan, there was no limit
To what he’d say or do, shyster supreme.
Why did I just believe in Mormonism
When it’s so obvious that it is a fraud?
Opened my mind and then, there was a schism,
I knew without a doubt, not Word of God.

THE PROPHET IS SPEAKING - LDS Hymn Parody #61

Recently, I was looking at http://www.mormon.org/ - and came across the following comments made by various Mormons about their Prophet:
Brett Jones said, "The current Prophet and President of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is Thomas S. Monson. He has been called of God to fill this sacred calling as the Lords mouth piece and serves faithfully and diligently to serve all of Gods children, just as God would have him do."
Mark said, "God through out the ages has spoken to His children through living prophets. We have a prophet today, named Thomas S. Monson. He is a prophet just like Moses, Abraham or Peter."
Dylan said, "God calls a prophet in every dispensation, they lead and guide and speak of god. They receive revelation through God to teach and run the church. They are the same and have the same athority the the prophets do in the Bible and Book of Mormon. The prophet today is Thomas S.Monson and he has two counselors to help him. Henry B. Eyring and Dieter F.Uctdorf and there are 12 men or Apostles as well."
...and many, many more.  Of course, one of the most famous quotes about the Mormon Prophet is, "When the Prophet speaks, the debate is over."  Obviously this quote is designed to not only shut people up, but to squelch their desire to research and question anything that goes on in the Mormon Church.  A sad commentary...

Of course, when I was devout Mormon, I "just believed" that what the Prophet said was actually from God.  But now that I've come to the realization that the Mormon Church is laced with many lies, I have changed my opinion in that regard.

And actually, since doing the research that made me come to the conclusion that I had been duped my entire life, I have also realized that the reason the Mormon Church puts so much emphasis on what the "current Prophet" says is that they don't want people relying (or even reading) what previous Prophet have said.  I mean, look at the Journal of Discourses.  That volume of books has some very scary quotes from previous Prophets - and the Mormon Church wants to downplay all that as much as possible.

My newest LDS Hymn Parody (below) speaks not only about what the Prophet says but also what the Mormon Machine is up to these days.  The billboards and TV commercials are an example of their frantic campaign to try to bolster their numbers in response to the fact that they are losing members right and left due to people beginning to see the lies laced throughout Mormonism and the way in which the Mormon Church plays so fast and loose with the truth.  And we can thank the Internet for that -- YAY, GOOGLE!!!

And so, here is my latest LDS Hymn Parody (#61... and counting!!)...

THE PROPHET IS SPEAKING
Sung to the tune of The Day Dawn is Breaking, #52
The Prophet is speaking, and his words are reeking
Of obvious lies from the Mormon machine.
It’s clear from my research that it’s not the true church,
Without any doubt, the deception is seen.
(Chorus)
It’s not the truth, it’s filled with lies,
The cover-up is no surprise.
Although they say to just believe,
It’s very clear the lies they weave.
They tell all the members to be their defenders,
To stand up for truth and to just turn away
From evil apostates and anyone who states
That the Mormon Church honesty does betray.
 (Chorus)
It’s not the truth, it’s filled with lies,
The cover-up is no surprise.
Although they say to just believe,
It’s very clear the lies they weave.
I see all the billboards and so many discords
Begin to sound off as my brain starts to ache.
The money they’re spending seems to be unending
As tithing they’re using, the poor they forsake.
(Chorus)
It’s not the truth, it’s filled with lies,
The cover-up is no surprise.
Although they say to just believe,
It’s very clear the lies they weave.
And so Mormonism has met a big schism,
As people are Googling and seeing the lies.
With TV commercials on so many channels,
They’re seeking new members but cannot disguise…
(Chorus)
It’s not the truth, it’s filled with lies,
The cover-up is no surprise.
Although they say to just believe,
It’s very clear the lies they weave.

THE PLAN IS IN PLACE - LDS Hymn Parody #58

OK, I'm on a roll again... and here is my 58th LDS Hymn Parody...

This one is very self-explanatory.  It follows a recurring theme of the mindless sheep just going along without thinking for themselves (you know, like Come, Come Ye Sheep), which I'm sure is part of "the plan" created by Joseph Smith and perpetuated by many others since his time...

THE PLAN IS IN PLACE
Sung to the tune of The Lord is my Light, #89

The plan is in place, the sheep must obey,
So keep them in line throughout every day.
They must show compliance in every detail
Because Mormonism cannot ever fail.

(Chorus)
The plan… is in place…
And all the sheep… must obey.
Just don’t give them space,
So they will not go astray.

The plan is in place, what more can we say?
Get them to submit and money they’ll pay.
You know Mormonism is simply a fraud,
But they will comply if they think it’s from God.

(Chorus)
The plan… is in place…
And all the sheep… must obey.
Just don’t give them space,
So they will not go astray.

You know Joseph Smith, a Prophet of God,
Created the plan, a brilliant façade.
And so we must follow what Joseph foresaw,
A bunch of mindless sheep chanting baa, baa, baa…

(Chorus)
The plan is in place…
And all the sheep… must obey.
Just don’t give them space,
So they will not go astray.

And so here we are, the Internet Age,
Where Google is king, an all-knowing sage.
We need to be certain the sheep remain blind,
Forbid them to research, the truth they won’t find.

(Chorus)
The plan is in place…
And all the sheep… must obey.
Just don’t give them space,
So they will not go astray.
